#1 in the land goes down on a chilly afternoon at Jordan field. The Harvard Crimson took down the Syracuse Orange 13-12, led by sophomore goalie Graham Stevens with a season high 14 saves against Syracuse’s highly touted offensive unit, making crucial stops on what would have been momentum shifting plays. Despite the loss, the orange were led by Luke Rhoa with 3 goals netted, though Harvard’s Nathan Cobery matched Rhoa’s tally with 3 as well. The Orange entered the 2nd half down 6-4, fighting an uphill battle against a tough Harvard defense, but with goals from Finn Thompson and Wyatt Hottle, the Orange tied it up at 6 a piece with 11:48 in the 3rd. Later down the stretch, with 4:31 remaining in the 3rd, the orange found themselves at yet another deficit, 10-7 after Nathan Cobery netted his 2nd of the night to push the crimsons lead further. The Orange fought back with a Micheal Leo goal with 2:10 remaining in the 3rd. The fourth quarter brought high drama, the Orange facing a 2 goal deficit, but they came out firing, with 2 quick strikes by Matt Mcintee and Payton Anderson, the orange were right back in it, energizing the bench and visiting orange faithful. 2 minutes later Luke Rhoa scores the man up goal for the orange, re-gaining the lead and taking the momentum back. Another minute later, a strike by tewarton favorite Joey Spallina puts the orange up 12-10 with 6:27 remaining. Unfortunately for the orange, the crimson were not quite done, cutting their lead to nothing, with 2 quick strikes from John Aurandt IV and Sean Jordan. The following 3 minutes lead to a tense stalemate, with both teams battling for every possession. With a shot clock violation by the Crimson with 1:42 left, the Orange seemed poised to reclaim the lead, but with a costly offsides penalty with 1:25 left, the Crimson were given the golden opportunity to take the lead. The Crimson capitalized with a Nathan Cobery goal with 0:50 seconds left. After Graham Stevens saved a Spallinia shot for his 14th save of the night, there was nothing the orange could do, as they fell to the #13 crimson in front of a crowd of 2,159 at Jordan field. The Orange face yet another regular season defeat against the Crimson, similarly to last season when the Orange lost 15-14 to the then ranked 15th Harvard Crimson.
